Violence and conflict overshadow Myanmar’s upcoming elections

The first elections in Myanmar in five years since military leaders took power in a coup are set to be held in December.
But the junta announced this week voting will be cancelled in more than 100 areas, citing security concerns.
Rights groups and observers say a free and fair vote isn’t possible, all the time armed conflict is continuing in the country.
