Mojtaba Khamenei: Strait of Hormuz closure continues, enemies will ‘pay the price’

In his first address as Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei vowed revenge for those killed in the war, particularly the children killed in the Minab school attack, declaring “the enemies will pay the price.” He confirmed the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz and said the path of the war will depend on Iran’s national interests. He praised the armed forces for preventing the enemy from dominating or dividing the country and vowed to target enemy military bases in the region while maintaining good relations with neighbouring countries. He expressed solidarity with the wounded and displaced, promising financial compensation and free treatment. Addressing regional nations, he stressed Iran is keen on good relations but warned that bases used to attack Iran must cease operations. He paid tribute to his father, the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, describing his death while reading the Quran on the 10th of Ramadan as a profound loss, and pledged to continue his path. He called for unity among Iranians and resistance forces across the region, including in Yemen and Iraq, to defeat the enemy.
