Databricks just snatched up another AI company (https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/05\/14\/databricks-to-buy-open-source-database-startup-neon-for-1b\/<\/a>) .<\/p>\n

This week, data analytics giant announced a $1 billion acquisition of Neon, a startup building an open-source alternative to AWS Aurora Postgres. It\u2019s the latest in a spree of high-profile buys, joining MosaicML (https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/06\/26\/databricks-picks-up-mosaicml-an-openai-competitor-for-1-3b\/<\/a>) and Tabular (https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/08\/14\/databricks-reportedly-paid-2-billion-in-tabular-acquisition\/<\/a>) , as Databricks positions itself as the place to build, deploy, and scale AI-native applications.\u00a0<\/p>\n
