Fresh off winning his first Kia NBA MVP award, Gilgeous-Alexander carries himself in a manner where he lets the basketball do the talking. <\/p>\n
\u201cMentality, I tell myself every night I\u2019m the best player on the floor. I want everyone in the arena to know that and feel that \u2026 you have to find a balance between respect and not being scared,\u201d Gilgeous-Alexander said. <\/p>\n

After getting cut from his ninth-grade basketball team, Gilgeous-Alexander used that as fuel to motivate him to become one of the league\u2019s best. <\/p>\n
\u201cI wasn\u2019t as good at basketball as I thought I was. I knew I wanted to get to a high level and was going to do whatever it took,\u201d Gilgeous-Alexander said. <\/p>\n
He also reflects on his rookie season and the offseason trade that took him from the LA Clippers to the Thunder, and embracing Oklahoma City every step of the way. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s one of the better things to happen in my career, I have so much fun playing basketball in this organization. It\u2019s a group full of brothers and it makes things easier on the court,\u201d Gilgeous-Alexander said. <\/p>\n
