The large-scale campaign of Israeli arrests in the occupied West Bank since October 7, 2023 is part of a concerted effort to destabilise Palestinian communities and push young people out of the territory, analyst Amjad Abu el-Ezz has told Al Jazeera.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a policy being conducted by the Israeli occupation power under justifications like October 7,\u201d said Abu el-Ezz, a professor at the Arab American University in Ramallah.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut the truth behind this policy is to create fear, to make our life in the West Bank miserable and difficult, and to push the Palestinian youth to leave the land and become immigrants in Europe or elsewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n
Moreover, he added that Israeli soldiers are conducting daily raids, arresting young people even in towns and villages that have seen no unrest.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy is this policy being conducted when some towns and villages don\u2019t have any problems, don\u2019t have any activities, but they\u2019re still being targeted?\u201d he questioned.<\/p>\n
