\nThis loss is causing a significant decline in bird populations, with some species facing the threat of extinction. At Lake Chivero, outside Harare, conservationists are working to protect and rehabilitate displaced and injured birds.
\nThe sanctuary, home to over 400 wild bird species, serves as a haven for both local and migratory birds affected by habitat loss.
\nThe shrinking wetlands not only impact local ecosystems but also have far-reaching consequences for migratory birds that traverse continents.
\nEnvironmentalists stress the need for coordinated regional efforts to preserve these vital habitats, emphasising that the loss of wetlands is a pressing issue requiring immediate political action to prevent further species decline. <\/p>\n
