The countries that have called today\u2019s session of the UN Security Council have issued a joint statement that condemns Israel\u2019s plan to seize Gaza City, saying that it risks \u201cviolating international humanitarian law\u201d and will \u201conly endanger the lives of all civilians in Gaza\u201d.
\n\u201cWe call on Israel to urgently reverse this decision and not to implement\u201d the plan, the statement reads.
\nIt goes on to say that Israel\u2019s decision will do nothing to secure the return of the remaining captives still held in Gaza, and would even endanger their lives.
\nThe countries also called the current starvation of Gaza a \u201cmanmade crisis\u201d, and said that \u201curgent action is needed to halt starvation and to surge aid into Gaza\u201d.
\n\u201cWe have a clear message for Israel: lift restrictions on aid delivery to allow the UN and established humanitarian partners to operate safely and at scale, in line with the principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality and independence\u201d, the statement says.<\/p>\n
