US President Donald Trump has spoken about the decision to suspend Folarin Balogun’s one-game ban after the USA forward received a red card.<\/p>\n

“I’m a person that loves sports and was a good athlete and I understand sports really well, really well,” he said.<\/p>\n

“That wasn’t a foul… that was two guys running full speed that happened to crash into each other.<\/p>\n

“Like, you can’t take your foot and properly place it on somebody else’s foot.
\n“These were two great athletes that got tangled up. <\/p>\n

“This referee is a little bit suspect. If you check his past, I don’t want to say that because I don’t like to create controversy, but but very suspect.”<\/p>\n

He also calls Balogun “our best player”.<\/p>\n

Trump went on to say: “I’m the one that got them to do it”, referring to his call with FIFA chief Gianni Infantino, where he asked him to suspend the red card.<\/p>\n

The US president reiterated, “I didn’t think that was a foul”, and praised FIFA for a “really brilliant decision”.<\/p>\n
