Martin O’Neill says he is not returning to Celtic with a view to taking over permanently as manager. <\/p>\n

The former Celtic boss has been parachuted in as interim after Brendan Rodgers’ surprise resignation on Monday night.<\/p>\n

“This is short term,” O’Neill told TalkSport. <\/p>\n

“Celtic are stunned at the news that Brendan left, and as a consequence they are obviously seeking a permanent manager, and this is a short-term fit.<\/p>\n

“Whether it is a fix or not is another thing”<\/p>\n

Asked if interim means interim, Rodgers added: “Yes, interim does mean that. It’s as simple as that.<\/p>\n

“I would assume Celtic are looking for a young coach, who has a proven ability, to come in now and pull the club forward from their current position.<\/p>\n

“That’s how I would view it and as a Celtic fan, that’s how I would absolutely see it.”<\/p>\n
