The Sinking City 2 is finally here, bringing Frogwares back to its Lovecraftian roots with a much heavier focus on survival horror, exploration, and combat.
In this review, I take a deep dive into The Sinking City 2 — its world, story, investigation, exploration, combat, enemies, progression, graphics, performance, sound design, and whether its shift toward survival horror actually works.
The original Sinking City was one of those games where the ambition often exceeded the execution, but its strange atmosphere, detective work, and unapologetically weird take on cosmic horror gave it an identity all its own. The sequel has some very different priorities.
