Here are 5 Google Pixel non-camera features that deserve a lot more attention. Hidden beneath the surface are some surprisingly cool features that many Pixel owners don’t even know exist. These features are available across recent Google Pixel phones, including the Pixel 8, Pixel 9, Pixel 10, and Pixel 11 families, although availability may vary by model and Android version.
Quick Tap
Quick Tap is one of the most useful hidden features on Pixel phones. it turns the back of your phone into a customizable button. With a simple double tap, you can instantly take a screenshot, play or pause music, open an app, or even pull down your notifications. It’s like a secret shortcut built right into your phone. Once you start using it, it becomes one of those features that you can’t do without it. Instead of navigating menus or reaching across the screen, just tap the back twice and you’re done. Sometimes the best features are the ones that save you a few seconds dozens of times a day. You can customize this in the Gestures menu in your settings.
Landroid Screen Saver
Landroid is the coolest hidden secret screen saver/mini-game you’ve probably never seen which looks like something straight out of a sci-fi control room. When activated, your Pixel displays animated radar-style graphics, coordinates, system data, and even a playful message that says, “Autopilot Engaged.” It’s completely unnecessary, which is exactly why it’s awesome. To unlock it, go to Settings, About Phone, then tap Android version repeatedly. Press and hold the Android logo that appears to launch the hidden mini-game. Then you can go to settings, display, tap on screen saver, turn it on and choose Landroid from the list.
Clear Calling
This feature helps reduce incoming background noise from a call, making voices sound clearer and easier to understand. So instead of hearing traffic, conversations, and random chaos competing for attention, you can focus on the person you’re actually talking to. Its available on newer Pixel devices. It’s an easy to overlook feature because it’s working quietly in the background. Once you hear it you’ll definitely appreciate it. Simply go to Settings, Sound and vibration, tap Clear Calling and turn on the switch.
USB-C Power & Accessories
With the USB-C port you can connect flash drives, keyboards, mice, game controllers, and even external displays on supported devices. Need to move photos quickly? Plug in a USB drive. Want to turn your phone into a mini productivity station? Connect a keyboard and start typing. Google’s Pixel also support USB-C audio, which means you can use wired USB-C headphones without needing Bluetooth at all. And if you’re traveling, a simple USB-C hub can expand your phone’s capabilities even further.
Screen Attention & Adaptive Timeout
There are two smart display features that work together to make your Pixel feel more intelligent. Adaptive Timeout notices when you’re no longer using your phone and turns the screen off to help save battery life. Screen Attention does the opposite. As long as you’re actively looking at the display, it helps keep the screen awake. Your phone won’t unexpectedly dim or lock just because you haven’t touched the screen in a while.
