We&#8217;ve got the recipe for the famous &#8220;Roman&#8217;s Dairy-Free Chocolate-Coconut Ice Cream&#8221; from Rori&#8217;s Creamery in Sant Barbara.<\/p>\n<p>Get the printable recipe: <a href=\"https:\/\/gfreefoodie.com\/recipe-for-chocolate-ice-cream\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">https:\/\/gfreefoodie.com\/recipe-for-chocolate-ice-cream\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>INGREDIENTS:<br \/>\n3 cups unsweetened coconut milk<br \/>\n3 tablespoon agave syrup<br \/>\n1\u00bc cups sugar<br \/>\n\u2154 cup unsweetened cocoa powder<br \/>\n3 large egg yolks<br \/>\n1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract<br \/>\n\u00bd cup unsweetened coconut flakes optional, for topping<\/p>\n<p>INSTRUCTIONS:<br \/>\nSet a fine-mesh sieve in a large bowl set over a bowl of ice water.<br \/>\nIn a large saucepan, whisk the coconut milk and agave syrup over moderately low heat until warm. In a medium heatproof bowl, whisk the sugar and cocoa powder. Gradually whisk in 1 cup of the warm coconut milk until smooth, then whisk in the egg yolks. Scrape the cocoa paste into the saucepan and whisk until blended.<br \/>\nCook the custard over moderate heat, whisking constantly, for about 6 minutes, until very hot and slightly thickened; do not let it boil. Immediately strain the custard into the prepared bowl and stir in the vanilla. Stir the custard until chilled.<br \/>\nFreeze the custard in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturers&#8217; directions. Transfer the ice cream to a large plastic container and freeze until firm, at least 4 hours.<br \/>\nFor the optional topping: In a small skillet, toast the coconut flakes over low heat until lightly browned, 4 minutes. Transfer to a plate and let cool.
