If you’ve been reading EQ Music throughout 2026, you already know the drill: when we find a track we love enough to write about, chances are it ends up in our This Beat Is Poptronik Spotify playlist too.
And this year’s edition has become quite the beast.
This Beat Is Poptronik 2026 brings together the songs, artists and pop discoveries that have kept us listening, writing and occasionally obsessing over new music throughout the year so far. From major pop names to artists still carving out their own corner of the musical universe, it’s essentially the soundtrack to EQ Music in 2026.
There are some very familiar names in the mix. Robyn has unsurprisingly been keeping our attention with tracks including “Sexistential,” “Talk To Me” and “Blow My Mind,” while Harry Styles, Kim Petras, MUNA, Tove Lo, Adam Lambert, Troye Sivan, Jessie Ware, Ke$ha, Hayley Kiyoko, MNEK, Madonna, Icona Pop, Arlo Parks, Nelly Furtado, The Chainsmokers, Remi Wolf and Caroline Alves all make appearances.
But Poptronik has never really been about simply rounding up the biggest names in pop.
What continues to excite us most at EQ Music is discovering artists who feel like they’re on the verge of something special — and 2026 has delivered plenty of them.
Zee Machine has been one of our consistent favourites this year, with “Magnetic,” “Seat At The Table” and “Bad 2 U” all landing on the playlist. We’ve continued to love the gloriously unapologetic pop world of Bentley Robles, alongside emerging EQ Music favourites including Déyyess, Haute & Freddy, Dirt Flirt, Sophie Grey., Lostchild, Myylo, Lex Viscera, Be Like Milo, Boy Blu, Rhian!, Samuel Evanson, Emma See, IVY, MEEK and Ryan Cassata.
Then there are those artists who simply made us stop what we were doing and pay attention: Stan Pratt, Bam Rigby, Amelile, LALA HAYDEN, Tsatsamis, Ocean Tisdall, Marlowe, Kyle Waves, Milune, Moyka, Sistra, Ella Red, Erin LeCount, YANN and plenty more.
That mix is really what This Beat Is Poptronik has always been about.
It isn’t supposed to sound like an algorithmically generated “new pop” playlist. It’s the music that actually made its way onto EQ Music — whether that came from an established artist releasing something brilliant, an independent artist landing in our inbox, a queer musician doing something genuinely exciting, or somebody completely new making us wonder, where the hell did this come from?
At well over 150 tracks already, This Beat Is Poptronik 2026 moves through synth-pop, electronic pop, indie-pop, queer pop, dance music, alt-pop and plenty of things that refuse to sit neatly inside any of those boxes.
And that’s exactly how we like it.
