The violent attack also cost him his record deal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt shifted my concept,\u201d 50 Cent <a title=\"\u200c\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/oesYO5e7hV0?si=O0Gla9rkAdHsdRJL\">said on the morning show on Tuesday. <\/a>\u201cMy first album concept was <em>Power of a Dolla_r, and then I went to _Get Rich or Die Tryin\u2019,<\/em> the stakes just got higher.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After the shooting, Fif found himself abandoned by the industry and forced to rebuild from scratch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou look, and you go, well, what am I going to do?\u201d he said. \u201cThe record company\u2019s not answering the phone anymore. Everything\u2019s changing. The album\u2019s standout track, \u201cMany Men (Wish Death on Me),\u201d directly references the shooting and became an anthem of survival and defiance.<\/p>\n<p>50 Cent\u2019s resilience didn\u2019t begin with that attack. He lost his mother in a fire when he was just eight years old, a tragedy that left him to navigate a rough upbringing in one of New York\u2019s toughest neighborhoods. His early years were marked by street life and drug dealing before he pivoted to music.<\/p>\n<p>Now, 50 Cent has expanded far beyond rap. He\u2019s the host of <em>\u201c50 Ways to Catch a Killer\u201d with 50 Cent<\/em>, a true-crime series streaming on <a title=\"\u200c\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/50-cent-opens-up-being-shot-9-times-explains-how-shifted-his-career\"><em>Fox Nation<\/em><\/a>_,_ where he delves into unsolved cases alongside a team of investigators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a team of people help me curate it, and what I do is try to solve things before they solve it on television,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The rapper-turned-mogul also offered motivation for anyone facing setbacks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are no excuses. There\u2019s no situation that they\u2019ll go through, or that they can\u2019t go through, and still be successful,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>50 teased more projects ahead, including a possible second season of his show and a role in a new <em>Street Fighter<\/em> film. But he\u2019s not trying to reinvent himself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to be someone new,\u201d he said. \u201cI just want to be a better version of who I am.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The shooting, widely believed to be linked to his past street dealings, happened as 50 Cent was trying to leave that life behind and focus on music.
