Tool<\/a> recently kicked off their\u00a0November\/December 2025 tour by playing two consecutive nights at the Spark Arena in Auckland, New Zealand. In addition to performing many fan favorite regulars, they surprised audiences by also pulling out a handful of tunes that they haven\u2019t done in concert in over 20 years.<\/p>\n

Which Rare Live Songs Tool Play?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

First, keep in mind how New Zealand\u2019s time zone may differ from yours (for instance, New Zealand is 18 hours ahead of the United States).<\/p>\n

Per setlist.fm<\/a>, Tool\u2019s Nov. 22 night show saw them replicating \u201cDisposition\u201d (from Lateralus<\/a><\/em>) and \u201cH.\u201d (from \u00c6nima<\/a>) for the first time on stage since November of 2002. What\u2019s more, the also did \u201cCrawl Away\u201d (from Undertow<\/a><\/em>) for the first time since August of 1998! Plus, concertgoers got to see the live debut of Fear Inoculum<\/a><\/em>\u00a0(digital\/vinyl version) closer \u201cMockingbeat.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then, on Nov. 23 (and per setlist.fm<\/a>), they did another Undertow<\/em> classic \u2013 \u201cPrison Sex\u201d \u2013 for the first time since April of 2002. They also did \u201cIntension\u201d from 10,000 Days<\/a><\/em> for the first time since March of 2014.<\/p>\n

Both nights also included their cover of Black Sabbath<\/a>\u2019s \u201cHand of Doom,\u201d which \u2013 according to setlist.fm<\/a> \u2013 Tool previously played at Ozzy Osbourne<\/a>\/Black Sabbath\u2019s Back to the Beginning<\/a> farewell show this past July.<\/p>\n

What Else Did Tool\u2019s New Zealand Sets Include?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In total, both nights featured 14 songs, with most of them (such as \u201cThe Grudge,\u201d \u201cFear Inoculum,\u201d \u201cRosetta Stoned,\u201d \u201cVicarious,\u201d \u201cPneuma\u201d and \u201cInvincible\u201d) appearing during both shows. That said, their Nov. 22 performance featured \u201cJambi,\u201d \u201cChocolate Chip Trip\u201d and \u201cIntolerance,\u201d too, whereas Nov. 23 saw Tool tooling around with \u201cRight in Two\u201d and \u201cSweat.\u201d<\/p>\n

Back in August, Tool\u2019s Maynard James Keenan<\/a> and Adam Jones<\/a> joined Loudwire Nights<\/a><\/em> to discuss Back to the Beginning and the death of Ozzy Osbourne. In the process, Keenan confirmed that the quartet are in the process of writing for the follow-up to Fear Inoculum<\/em>, after which Jones elaborated:<\/p>\n

We want to get another record out and play, do what we do. The three of us have been jamming. I don’t know if you go, oh, the writing process has started. It’s always there. Between preparing for an upcoming tour or whatever we’re doing, there’s points where someone goes, oh, I got this and I got this. But I think we’re going to dive deep soon.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Jones also mentioned that he\u2019s been messing around with a Black Sabbath-esque guitar riff for years, adding: \u201cI\u2019ll probably bug those guys again about trying to turn that into a future Tool song. I\u2019ve got lots of riffs, we put them together, tear them apart and try to make something that we\u2019re all into.\u201d<\/p>\n
