These albums, in our opinion, just deserve to be thought of in a little higher regard. Check &#8217;em out.<\/p>\n<p>One and done\u2026 that\u2019s the story of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/miasma\">Miasma<\/a><\/strong>. In 1992, this Austrian band released the demonic and vicious <em>Changes<\/em>.<strong> Miasma<\/strong>\u2019s sole album is old school death metal at its finest \u2014 fat riffs and disgusting production with gutturals straight from the abyss. It\u2019s a somewhat messy exercise in death metal tropes, but it\u2019s got the perfect feel of a bunch of young, greasy longhairs in a basement trying to make the most brutal shit possible. \u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Miasma - Baphomet\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UkZy6gywfIE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p><em>Crimson<\/em> this, <em>Crimson II<\/em> that, Abraham hit me with a wiffle ball bat. Did y\u2019all forget about about <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/edge-of-sanity\">Edge of Sanity<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s BEST album? Before <strong>Dan Swan\u00f6<\/strong> went down the concept album route, he made one of the most incredible death metal albums of the \u201890s with <em>The Spectral Sorrows<\/em>. It\u2019s pure Swedish death metal supremacy, ripe with that chainsaw guitar tone we can\u2019t get enough of. It\u2019s just phenomenally solid the whole way through.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Darkday\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ier7-8N7ggk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Let\u2019s get into melodeath territory. How is this band not as big as <strong>Insomnium<\/strong> or <strong>Amorphis<\/strong>? <strong>In Vain<\/strong>\u2019s 2013 album <em>\u00c6nigma<\/em> has such gigantic hooks, especially when it comes to clean vocal parts. The chorus on \u201cAgainst the Grain\u201d is a gorgeous serotonin booster with angelic backing vocals, \u201cHymne Til Havet\u201d has some of the most beautiful Norwegian folk singing you\u2019ll ever hear, and <strong>In Vain<\/strong> even throw in some sexy saxophone on the album\u2019s closing track. Stop sleeping on this band!<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Hymne Til Havet\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-aoZbanS1Y4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Here\u2019s some good ol\u2019 fashioned gore. Another hidden gem from the 1990s, <strong>Morbius<\/strong>\u2019 <em>Alienchrist<\/em> feels like it exists in liminal space. It\u2019s like a drug-induced spiritual awakening with the most pitter-pattery kick drums in history. It works, though. The playing on <em>Alienchrist<\/em> switches between tastefully loose and insanely in-the-pocket, especially on tracks like \u201cGhosts\u201d and \u201cDoomcry.\u201d If you like hearing your death metal bands jam out, listen to <strong>Morbius<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ghosts\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5Qy7I-RqlgQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>From one of death metal\u2019s founding bands, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/necrophagia\">Necrophagia<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s <em>Season of the Dead<\/em> deserves way more praise than it gets. It\u2019s both raw as fuck and musically sophisticated, sharing a similar blueprint to <strong>Death<\/strong>\u2019s <em>Scream Bloody Gore<\/em>. It\u2019s important to note that <em>Season of the Dead<\/em> came out several months before <em>Scream Bloody Gore<\/em>, and arguably has more interesting instrumentation than King <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/chuck-schuldiner\">Chuck<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s debut. This was seriously ahead of its time.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Beyond and Back\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TCyQMo1SpcU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/kalter\">K\u00e4lter<\/a><\/strong> never hid their worship of early-era <strong>Children of Bodom<\/strong>. Starting off as a <strong>Bodom<\/strong> cover band, <strong>K\u00e4lter<\/strong> ended up filling <strong>Alexi Laiho<\/strong>\u2019s neoclassical void when he brought <strong>Bodom<\/strong> into their <em>Blooddrunk<\/em> \/ <em>RRF<\/em> era. <em>Spiritual Angel<\/em> is packed full of gorgeous shredding, killer keyboards and even some indigenous percussion similar to <strong>Gojira<\/strong>. If you want to hear the best <strong>Children of Bodom<\/strong> album <strong>Alexi Laiho<\/strong> never wrote, here it is.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Of Tears and Blood\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OqkshoNkknw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Tech death has been getting its mojo back recently, and if you&#8217;re a serious tech death nerd, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/first-fragment\">First Fragment<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;s <em>Glorie \u00c9ternelle<\/em> is the album you need. The bass work alone is enough to get your veins throbbing, but beyond the music theory geekery of this record is legitimate brutality. This record has what it takes to bridge the gap between purists and casuals. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"First Fragment - Gloire \u00c9ternelle\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZnYaV5ueJjY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>If <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/bloodbath\">Bloodbath<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s <em>Breeding Death<\/em> EP is comparable to <strong>Suffocation<\/strong>\u2019s <em>Human Waste<\/em>, then <em>Unblessing the Purity<\/em> is <strong>Bloodbath<\/strong>\u2019s <em>Despise the Sun<\/em>. This EP is just so fucking good, so incredibly brutal and fun to listen to. But most importantly, it captures the very peak of <strong>Mikael Akerfeldt<\/strong>\u2019s guttural vocal abilities. <em>Unblessing the Purity<\/em> is a vulgar display of Swedishness.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mouth Of Empty Praise\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AJDcD7SFEUA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metalinjection.net\/tag\/diskord\">Diskord<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s <em>Degenerations<\/em> is one of those records that makes you think, \u201cHmmm, I didn\u2019t know death metal did that.\u201d Everything about <em>Degenerations<\/em> is slightly off-putting, like a <strong>Dario Argento<\/strong> movie. It\u2019s uncommon in the best way\u2026 the guitar tone is weird, the use of a cowbell is weird, the cross-sections of vocals are weird. The only thing that makes sense here is that <strong>Colin Marston<\/strong> mixed and mastered the album. Phenomenal stuff all around.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Dirigiste Radio Hit\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DJZqnlJpYdI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>I\u2019m just gonna leave this here. I told you once, but I will say it again \u2014 you&#8217;re a butthole if you hate on this album.
