What you talking about?\u2019 I just went in the booth and did the record,\u201d <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/missy-elliott-21st-century-greatest-song-get-ur-freak-on-1235443391\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">she said.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As she laid down the lyrics, Elliott envisioned the choreography that would eventually define the song\u2019s visual identity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve spent so much time around dancers,\u201d she said. \u201cFrom my first time on tour, I had 22 dancers\u2026 When I\u2019m doing that record, I\u2019m thinking of my dancers. I could just see them moving to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The gamble paid off. In October, <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> named \u201cGet Ur Freak On\u201d the best song of the 21st century so far, cementing its place in music history.<\/p>\n<p>Elliott, whose last release was the 2019 EP <em>Iconology<\/em>, also hinted that more music is on the horizon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have something in the works,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s just different. It\u2019s me being experimental again\u2026 I got some stuff coming.
