\n<\/p>\n
One of the biggest questions surrounding Megadeth<\/a>\u2019s self-titled final album<\/a> and farewell tour<\/a> is, \u201cWhat will Dave Mustaine<\/a> do next?\u201d Well, during a recent chat with Classic Rock <\/em>magazine (via Guitar.com<\/a>), the fiery frontman revealed not only his post-Megadeth dream job (acting), but the surprising sacrifice he\u2019d make for it under the right conditions.<\/p>\n \u201cI wouldn\u2019t mind studying acting,\u201d Mustaine admitted. \u201cI\u2019ve already done a ton of stuff on TV \u2013 hosting game shows, appearances in small sitcoms and movies \u2013 so I\u2019m very accustomed to being in front of the camera. I think that might be fun to do.\u201d<\/p>\n To his point, he appeared as himself on a 1998 episode of The Drew Carey Show <\/em>(\u201cIn Ramada Da Vida<\/a>\u201d), and he played antagonist Torchy Thompson in a 2001 episode of Black Scorpion<\/em> (\u201cLove Burns<\/a>\u201d). He also had a role in the 1999 Turkish horror movie Hummadruz<\/a><\/em>, and he did the voice of The Mastermind in the 2017 horror\/musical film\u00a0Halloween Pussy Trap Kill! Kill!<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n Surprisingly,\u00a0Mustaine’s\u00a0even willing to sacrifice is legendarily long red locks if the right role came around: \u201cIf they asked me to cut my hair, I\u2019d be willing to do it! [If] it\u2019s somebody that\u2019s a little bit older and they want to learn what it is that makes Dave tick, I don\u2019t care about their date of birth, I just want to be able to share. I\u2019ve been gifted [from God]. I wouldn\u2019t be this good on my own.\u201d<\/p>\n Last month, Loudwire<\/a> reported on Mustaine confirming that his upcoming 2027 memoir \u2013 In My Darkest Hour<\/a><\/em> \u2013 will see him diving into \u201cwhat life was like\u201d battling throat cancer in 2019.<\/p>\n Mustaine was speaking to WAPL Mornings With Laura Lee & Cutter<\/a><\/em>, and during their conversation (which you can see in full<\/a>), he explained:<\/p>\n The best way to summarize the book is it’s the medical process and then what life was like at that time, you know, and getting into the details. . . . We caught it early and went through all of the treatment, but because I’m a singer, we had to do things totally different. We had to focus differently with the radiation, and if it would’ve been off by even a millimeter, you know, that’s it for Dave.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Last month also saw former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson<\/a> sharing his mixed reactions<\/a> to Megadeth <\/em>on an episode of The David Ellefson Show<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n On one hand, he praised the record\u2019s pre-release single (\u201cLet There Be Shred<\/a>\u201d) and new guitarist Teemu\u00a0Mantysaari<\/a>, stating: “Look, Teemu is obviously a great guitar player. He’s fantastic. He’s a great player. To me, he’s kind of the story of Megadeth right now. He’s the shining star of the group.”<\/p>\n He admired the album\u2019s lyrics, too, and in particular, how pensive finale \u201cThe Last Note<\/a>\u201d reminded him of \u201cTurn the Page<\/a>\u201d by Bob Seger<\/a>.<\/p>\n Despite championing his performance overall, though, Ellefson was critical of how drummer Dirk Verbeuren<\/a>\u2019s playing was recorded: \u201cI wish they would not Pro Tool Dirk Verbeuren so much because the guy can play. We always said he’s the closest to [early drummer] Gar Samuelson since Gar Samuelson. It’s, like, take the guy off the fucking Pro Tools grid. Stop quantizing him and let him breathe a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier this month, Loudwire<\/a>\u00a0also reported on the three axmen that ex-guitarist Glen Drover<\/a> \u2013 who was in Megadeth from 2004 to 2008 \u2013 suggested as his replacement.<\/p>\n \u201c”When I left, I recommended three guitar players, who were\u00a0[Nevermore<\/a>\u2019s] Jeff Loomis<\/a>, [Annihilator<\/a>\u2019s]\u00a0Jeff Waters<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0[Jag Panzer<\/a>\u2019s] Chris Broderick<\/a>,\u201d Drover reflected during a recent appearance on Waste Some Time With Jason Green<\/em>.
