I\u2019ll admit it straight away \u2014 I\u2019m not a frequent cinema-goer. Yet in recent years, I\u2019ve grown incredibly enthusiastic of event cinema. Likewise, for pop fans like me, these screenings feel less like a traditional trip to the movies. They are more like stepping into a beyond-front-row vantage point of some truly iconic live performances.<\/p>\n

A few recent examples have absolutely won me over. Seeing Pet Shop Boys <\/strong>bring their glittering Dreamworld: The Greatest Hits Live<\/strong> show from Copenhagen to the big screen was a genuine thrill. Likewise, the cinematic presentation of Tears for Fears<\/strong> performing songs from The Tipping Point<\/strong> at the FirstBank Amphitheatre<\/strong> was both grand and emotionally charged. And then there was the immersive spectacle of Depeche Mode\u2019s M<\/strong> film, capturing the band\u2019s commanding presence during their Memento Mori <\/em><\/strong>world tour at Foro Sol in Mexico City.<\/p>\n

Each of those experiences felt like a masterclass in how concert films should be made. Yet likewise a newly announced release might just raise the bar even higher.<\/p>\n

Later this year, fans around the globe are invited to relive a defining moment in pop history when George Michael: The Faith Tour<\/strong> arrives in cinemas worldwide. Shot in 1988 during the European leg of the tour at Paris\u2019 legendary Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy<\/strong>. The film captures George Michael at a pivotal moment in his career. It was the period where he fully stepped out of the shadow of his pop beginnings. And into the spotlight as a bold, singular artist whose influence would shape pop culture for decades. <\/p>\n

Originally directed by longtime collaborators Andy Morahan<\/strong> and David Austin<\/strong>, the once-lost film has now been meticulously restored and remastered. From all accounts, the result honours George\u2019s original vision. Above all, delivers a performance film that highlights his magnetic stage presence and one-of-a-kind vocal power.<\/p>\n
