American death metal troupe Six Feet Under<\/a> have officially split with longtime drummer Marco Pitruzzella<\/a>, the band announced via a social media statement last week. In the process, they also revealed that Ruston Grosse<\/a> will be Pitruzzella\u2019s replacement.<\/p>\n This past Thursday (May 28), Six Feet Under shared the news on Facebook as part of their promotion for their upcoming tour (more on that in a bit).<\/p>\n Specifically, they wrote:<\/p>\n Just wanted to let all Our Fans, Worldwide, know that we are beyond excited to start our European tour this coming week, and kicking off our intense Summer Touring schedule which will last into the Fall and finish up in South America in October\/November.<\/p>\n We also would like you to help us welcoming Our New Drummer!! Ruston Grosse who has previously worked with Master<\/a>, and others! we have been working\u00a0 together with Ruston for a few months preparing, and formally since the beginning of May after we parted ways with Marco Pitruzzella.<\/p>\n Everyone in the Band\u00a0 is very excited about this New\u00a0 Chapter of Six Feet Under and the Heavy Groove that Ruston is bringing to the Rhythm Section!! He\u2019s a Brutalizer! and a Great guy.. We will see you all, from the Stage, SOON!!!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n You can see their post below:<\/p>\n Back in early April, Grosse (who\u2019s worked with Rumplestiltskin Grinder<\/a> as well) shared news<\/a> that he\u2019d be \u201cfilling in on drums\u201d for the group \u201con their European 2026 tour.\u201d He also said that he\u2019s \u201chonored to step into the shoes of the legendary Marco Pitruzzella \u2013 one of Extreme metals\u2019 most prolifically recorded drummers, known for his insane speed and over-the-top style that pushed the genre to new limits.\u201d<\/p>\n However, Six Feet Under\u2019s recent post seems to confirm that Pitruzzella is officially out and that Grosse is permanently in.<\/p>\n On May 29, Grosse issued another statement<\/a> joining the group:<\/p>\n I\u2019m absolutely f*ckin\u2019 stoked to pummel the masses with the guys on these next attacks!!!\u201d he began, adding: \u201c[I]t\u2019s an honor to share the stage with . . . Chris [Barnes, vocals], Jack [Owen, guitars], Ray [Shuhy, guitars], & Jeff [Hughell, bass] as well to be stepping in for Lord Marco. Get your asses out to the show or fest and prepare to be crushed because let me tell ya\u2026 WAR IS COMING!!!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n As far as we can tell, Pitruzzella \u2013 who replaced Kevin Talley and appeared on all Six Feet Under studio albums from 2017\u2019s Torment<\/a> <\/em>to 2026\u2019s Next to Die<\/em> \u2013 has not publicly spoken about his departure or replacement. He’ll be an excellent addition to the band, stoked to watch y’all tear it up here in Boise in July!\u201d and<\/em> \u201cBummer to lose Lord Marco (hopefully amicable split) and congrats and good luck to Ruston for taking over the kit.\u201d<\/p>\n Grosse himself also commented: \u201cI\u2019m supremely honored and fucking stoked to do this legendary material justice and work with\/fill the shoes of some of Extreme Metal\u2019s greatest yet again! Many thanks to Chris, Jack, Ray, and Jeff for havin me!\u201d<\/p>\n Likewise, Grosse\u2019s May 29 statement on his own Facebook page generated equally enthusiastic reactions, including one person who proclaimed: \u201cSuper stoked for you brother, tear that shit up!\u201d<\/p>\n Plus, and across both posts, fellow rock\/metal artists such as Jungle Rot<\/a>, guitarist Keith Uglow<\/a> (SleepWitch<\/a>, Flesh of the Lotus<\/a>), T.J. Mundy<\/a> (Putrid Womb<\/a>) and Pat Shea<\/a> (Forced Worship<\/a>) offered congratulations and well wishes.<\/p>\n On May 29, Pitruzzella posted about Morgue Supplier<\/a>\u2019s new LP, Mastering the Disease<\/em>, for which he \u201claid down the drum tracks\u201d several months ago. He\u2019s also spoken about the return of his Wrath of Logarius<\/a> project in recent weeks.<\/p>\n As for Six Feet Under, they\u2019re taking their \u201cDecades in the Grave\u201d tour across North America and Europe between early June and mid-October. \u00a0Per their official website<\/a>: \u201cThis run is a true gift for fans, celebrating their legacy and the historic reunion of Chris Barnes with guitarist Jack Owen. Separately, the band will dominate festivals like Mystic Festival, Nova Rock, Graspop, Hellfest, and Copenhell.
