However, she claims she watched several other women wearing similar outfits walk right in.<\/p>\n<p>In a recent video, @itz.jskayy explains that she and her friends arrived at Joia Beach Miami with outfits they considered aligned with the dress code. Despite her efforts to respect the dress code, she says a bouncer turned her away over a dress code violation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoia Beach just told me I couldn\u2019t get in literally because of the length of my shorts,\u201d @itz.jskayy says.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-that-don-t-even-make-sense\"><strong>\u2018That Don\u2019t Even Make Sense<\/strong>\u2018<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/joiabeachmiami.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Joia Beach<\/a> is a waterfront restaurant and beach club located on Jungle Island in Miami. Its menu is Mediterranean-inspired, and it\u2019s known for not only its food but also its beach club atmosphere. Additionally, for its strict dress code.<\/p>\n<p>While the bouncer denied @itz.jskayy and her friends entry, supposedly because of what they had on, they say they saw him allow other women with very similar clothing into the venue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I tell y\u2019all, it was about two to three people that had the same length as my shorts walk in, and he telling me I can\u2019t get in because of my shorts?\u201d she says. She says her friend questioned the decision, arguing that the explanation didn\u2019t add up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen he wanna start arguing with my friend because my friend said, \u2018That don\u2019t even make sense. Her shorts is going over her booty.\u2019 Why the hell y\u2019all got this strict-[expletive] dress code if you\u2019re not even making it clear what the exact dress code is?\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>According to @itz.jskayy, she had visited Joia Beach the night before and inquired about the dress code. She says a worker told her that while swimwear isn\u2019t permitted, regular clothing is acceptable before 5 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe came here last night, and we knew we couldn\u2019t wear swimwear, but they literally said we could wear regular clothes to get in before 5 p.m.,\u201d she says. \u201cThat\u2019s weird as [expletive].\u201d She can be seen almost tearing up in the video.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-miami-is-always-picking-and-choosing\">\u2018Miami Is Always Picking And Choosing\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Viewers were quick to weigh in on the situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah Miami is always picking and choosing. I wore this to Joia and was fine,\u201d says one commenter, attaching an image of them in a bikini with a mesh cover-up on top.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the entire outfit boo. I tell everybody if you want that Miami pretty privilege you have to understand the style or everything will be a hit or miss,\u201d says another person.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t argue with nobody to spend your money where you\u2019re not wanted,\u201d someone else says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the overall fit \u2026 it\u2019s cute for somewhere in Atalanta not Miami,\u201d a different person mentions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cis joia not a beach club??? i\u2019m confusion,\u201d asked another person, to which @itz.jskayy responded, \u201cExactly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sorry, I see the hurt in your eyes. I don\u2019t understand why ppl love Miami, the energy is terrible there,\u201d another comment sympathizes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The video has 399,400 views and 41,000 likes as of this writing.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-joia-beach-s-dress-code\"><strong>What Is Joia Beach\u2019s Dress Code?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>According to Joia Beach\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/joiabeachmiami.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a>, the venue follows a \u201cEuropean-inspired, upscale beach chic\u201d dress code. The website states that \u201cproper attire\u201d is required for entry and that management reserves the right to refuse admission or ask guests to leave if they do not meet the dress code guidelines.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, the site does not provide clear examples of what clothing is or is not permitted, and \u201cEuropean-inspired, upscale beach chic\u201d is pretty vague. Strangely enough, the site is specific about some aspects of the dress code. For example, it states, \u201cFishnet cover-ups, offensive clothing, athletic apparel, hoodies, sweatpants, tank tops, cargo pants and slides worn with socks are not permitted in any area of the venue.\u201d However, nowhere does it say short shorts are not allowed.<\/p>\n<p>It seems as if dress code enforcement is up to the bouncer\u2019s discretion. Based on the photos people commented about what they got in wearing, the dress code seems arbitrary.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>AllHipHop has reached out to Joia Beach via email and @itz.jskayy via TikTok direct message and comment.
