Russell Simmons challenged a hostile Bill Gates narrative while recasting the global mogul as a champion Of human survival worldwide.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Russell Simmons<\/a> defended Bill Gates in public remarks as the philanthropist faced criticism over work Simmons says preserved Black lives.<\/p>\n

While Gates has drawn fierce scrutiny from skeptics Simmons, in an Instagram post, portrayed the Microsoft co-founder as a historic humanitarian whose investments in medicine and global health have delivered critical assistance to Black communities.<\/p>\n

Simmons said, \u201cHe saved the lives are more Black people than anybody in the history of the world he put hundreds of billions of dollars into the into ideas the actual medicine that say black lives, can\u2019t say that AIDS pill that people don\u2019t need it.<\/p>\n

The Hip-Hop mogul known as Rush argued that Gates has committed hundreds of billions of dollars to lifesaving ideas, treatments and infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Simmons also contrasted Gates with Elon Musk.<\/p>\n

He questioned why the public celebrates Musk and Tesla while condemning Gates for initiatives Simmons believes were designed to protect people across Africa and confront environmental threats.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe gave right back when he took the American government money when Trump and him got together did that Elon Musk stepped up to the plate so you know his intentions have been nothing but good,\u201d he said from his home in Bali. \u201cIt\u2019s all he gave his wife a pill from you know. That\u2019s the only fucked up thing I seen him do. Well, Let me just slip her a pill that\u2019s the only bad thing I\u2019ve seen him do.\u201d<\/p>\n

His defense also included Gates\u2019 advocacy surrounding climate change and food alternatives such as plant-based meat. Simmons said Gates\u2019 efforts to address rising temperatures and other global dangers have been misrepresented as sinister attempts to control nature.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe seeds in the clouds, the global warming thing. He\u2019s trying to save you,\u201d he lamented.
\u201cThey try to tell you it\u2019s not coming. It\u2019s coming. It\u2019s happening. The scientist will tell you it\u2019s happening. So Bill Gates\u2026I just want you to know he\u2019s not the devil. That\u2019s my belief system and I think it\u2019s important.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cBill Gates has put in a couple hundred million dollars per month saving Black people \u2013 a couple hundred million. And while he\u2019s spending all this money, he\u2019s being demonized. He\u2019s seedng the clouds, why? He\u2019s trying to stop global warning. So Malcolm X said they\u2019ll have you demonizing the people you should love and loving the people you should hate. You love your oppressor and even love your oppressor to the extent where Black people love their oppressor. And they feel like they can\u2019t get ahead because the oppressor is stopping them. They feel small. They make the white man bigger than the white man is.\u201d<\/p>\n

The remarks placed Simmons firmly inside a contentious debate over wealth, technology and philanthropy. The comments section did not disappoint. <\/p>\n

People like Pete Rock and Rich Medina openly questioned Uncle Rush\u2019s post and opinion. <\/p>\n

His position was unmistakable: Whatever suspicions surround Gates\u2019 influence, the scale of his health funding deserves recognition rather than vilification.<\/p>\n
