Suno has pulled its controversial Mary J. Blige campaign after claiming it had entered into a business deal with someone who lacked authority to represent the R&B icon.<\/p>\n
The AI music company scrapped the advertisement after learning Blige was uncomfortable with the campaign. Suno said the unnamed person who arranged the deal had presented themselves as an official representative for the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe entered into a business deal with someone who presented themselves as Ms. Blige\u2019s official representative,\u201d a Suno spokesperson told Variety<\/a>. \u201cAs soon as we learned this was not the case, and that Ms. Blige was uncomfortable, we terminated the advertising campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n The explanation made the situation even stranger. Blige plainly appeared in the studio footage, but agreeing to be recorded during a demonstration is not the same as approving an advertising campaign. It showed Blige listening as producers used Suno to generate and reshape a song.
