They\u2019re the only known handwritten lyrics from the rapper\u2019s early career, and they\u2019ve already survived a legal battle that took years to resolve.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The story starts at a car dealership in New Orleans back in 1999. He grabbed them because they looked interesting and kept them for nearly three decades.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The pages contained lyrics to \u201cI Feel\u201d and \u201cWe On Fire,\u201d both tracks that appeared on the Hot Boys\u2019 1999 album <em>Guerilla Warfare<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sheets included doodles of the Magnolia Projects and a phone number for Club Whispers, a New Orleans East nightclub popular with rappers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The finder stuck everything inside a magazine copy and forgot about it.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"We On Fire\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lUVojWC2UrI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2019, the owner decided to sell the lyrics through Moments In Time, an online auction agency, with an asking price of $250,000, and that\u2019s when things got complicated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nola.com\/entertainment_life\/music\/lil-wayne-lyrics\/article_69647930-d273-4540-be98-07bcb38bb8fa.html\" title=\"\u200c\">According to reporting from NOLA.com<\/a>, Wayne\u2019s attorney Jonathan Davis sent a cease-and-desist letter claiming the rapper had \u201cmisplaced\u201d the notebook and wanted it back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The auction got pulled immediately.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Years later, attorney Louis Koerner Jr. decided to fight back on behalf of his client.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He sued Wayne in Orleans Parish Civil District Court in 2023, citing Louisiana law that grants ownership of a movable object to whoever possesses it for 10 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The legal battle stayed relatively quiet and civil. Davis eventually decided not to continue the fight, and in February 2024, Judge Kern A.
