Sources describe early cuts as \u201creally rough,\u201d and the budget ballooned to somewhere between $70 million and $150 million depending on who you ask.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/theankler.com\/paramount-is-sitting-on-a-100-million-reparations-musical-why\/?utm_campaign=mrf-twitter-TheAnkler&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;mrfcid=202609096aa1cfd4e084cc6209ce9a1e\">According to The Ankler<\/a>, Paramount committed more than $100 million through a negative pickup deal, meaning the creators keep whatever\u2019s left from the budget.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parker and Stone released a statement taking responsibility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe take full responsibility for the schedule delay of this movie,\u201d they said. \u201cWe apologize to our partners at pgLang and Paramount and we appreciate their patience. South Park and life\u2019s circumstances have gotten in the way but we still believe in the project.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The timing is brutal for Paramount, which is currently fighting 12 state attorneys general over David Ellison\u2019s $111 billion acquisition of Warner Bros.
