We’re testing heatless curls for longevity, results, comfort, time, difficulty, potential hair damage, and what it’s actually like to rely on curls without heat in real life.
For two weeks, I put away my curling iron and styled my hair heatless 7 different times. I tried everything from overnight blowout-style curls to socks, curl noodles, and the Octocurl — with some surprisingly gorgeous results…and at least one spectacular failure. 😂
But I had questions beyond whether heatless curls could look good.
Do heatless curls actually last longer than curling iron curls? Do they really save time? Are heatless curls actually better for your hair, or can they cause their own type of mechanical damage? How comfortable are they to sleep in? And if you have stubborn, hard-to-curl hair like mine, can heatless curls be reliable enough to actually replace hot tools?
I even tested heatless curls vs. curling iron curls side-by-side on the same head to see which lasted longer.
