The US secretary of state has made an unannounced to Iraq to meet with the country’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani amid a tour of the region. Blinken’s tour is part of a push to bring Syria’s neighbours and the US’s allies onside as the country transitions political systems, post-Bashar al-Assad. Earlier today, Blinken met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkiye’s foreign minister.
