Total financial assets in the US are enormous and can make their holders look and feel extremely rich. But every financial asset is someone else’s financial liability. That someone else could be the bank or a private credit fund.
So what happens if that someone else runs into trouble servicing their financial liability? The financial asset disappears, the FT’s Toby Nangle explains.
