Israeli forces have expanded ground operations deeper into southern Lebanon, aiming to establish a buffer zone to protect northern Israeli communities.
The defence minister has ordered troops to destroy homes along the advance in what’s being described as a scorched earth policy.
Israeli forces are pushing towards the Litani River, up to 30 kilometres from the border, whilst Hezbollah fighters engage in guerrilla warfare tactics to prevent Israel from consolidating territorial control. Air strikes have intensified, and for the first time in the conflict, Israeli fire has killed a Lebanese army soldier near Tyre.
