Listen to “Heartstop” by Beau Cinema

There’s always something a little magical when a behind-the-scenes talent steps forward into the spotlight. Songwriters and touring musicians are often the invisible architects of pop brilliance, shaping the soundtracks of our lives without necessarily claiming centre stage. So when one of them decides to step out with their own artistic identity, it feels like a moment worth leaning into. We’ve seen this recently with rising buzzmakers Haute & Freddy, and now there’s another name you’ll want firmly on your radar: Beau Cinema.

Beau Cinema is the creative alias of multi-instrumentalist Alex Lanyon, whose résumé reads like a pop fan’s dream. Currently performing alongside Dua Lipa and having previously worked with the likes of Ed Sheeran, James Bay and RAYE, Lanyon has spent years immersed in the inner workings of modern pop.

Speaking on his craft, Lanyon shares; “I’ve spent years playing behind other artists, learning how pop works from the inside” he says. “But these songs are what happens when you strip all of that away – when it’s just anxiety, noise, and whatever truth you’re trying not to say out loud. I don’t want to sound perfect. I want to sound real”

And that sense of raw honesty pulses through “Heartstop.” It’s a track that doesn’t just flirt with emotion — it leans fully into it. There’s a restless, late-night energy here, as if every lyric is unfolding in real time on a crowded dancefloor. You can feel the internal dialogue ticking away: the curiosity, the overthinking, the hopeful imagining of what could be. It’s in the small details — the quirks, the fleeting glances, the emotional what-ifs — where Beau Cinema really shines.

What makes this project especially compelling is its refusal to polish away the edges. “Heartstop” thrives in that beautifully imperfect space between vulnerability and escapism, reminding us that pop doesn’t always need to be pristine to connect. Sometimes, it’s the unfiltered moments — the ones that feel a little too real — that resonate the deepest.
