Ever since I was reminded to watch out for Déyyess thanks to her deluxe EP “Would You Go Down On A Girl? “ and by way of the additional bonus track “Silverlake Baby“. I similarly promised myself I wouldn’t miss the arrival of new music from the rising alt-pop talent. Thankfully, I jumped back in at exactly the right moment, as Déyyess returns with the intoxicating new single “Crush”. Incidentally, the clip is also her first official music video.
Whereas the track arrives wrapped in shimmering synths and dreamy pop textures, its origins are in a much more vulnerable place. Déyyess has revealed that “Crush” emerged during a period when she genuinely believed she might stop making music altogether.
