Sugababes Are Back: “Ghost” Leads The Way To New Album
Well, pop fans, the wait is finally over. Since that unforgettable Christmas Eve in 2022, when the Sugababes — Mutya, Siobhán and Keisha — gifted us “The Lost Tapes“, there has been one question quietly lingering in the background: when are we getting a brand-new Sugababes album?
Now we know. February 12th 2027 is the date for your diaries, because “Sugababes”, the trio’s first new album under the OG Sugababes name, is officially on its way.
It has certainly been quite the journey back. While the ladies have been keeping the OG Sugababes flame very much alive on stage, touring and performing to adoring audiences with the sort of aplomb that reminds us exactly why this reunion feels so significant, the promise of new music has been a little more elusive.
That changed in 2025 when “Jungle“, “Weeds” and “Shook” arrived, giving us our first delicious taste of what the next chapter might sound like. “Jungle” went on to reach number 15 on both the UK Singles Sales and UK Singles Downloads charts, while “Weeds” had previously earned an Ivor Novello Award nomination.
And now, after wiping their social media and commencing the next phase of the campaign, they have unveiled “Ghost”.
“We knew from the beginning that we didn’t want to rush this record. We wanted to give it the time it needed and make something we genuinely loved. From the songs and the sound to every detail around it. Somewhere along the way, it became obvious that there was only one thing we could call it”:

I’ll be honest, the 2025 releases did an excellent job of reminding us why the original Sugababes sound remains so irresistible. But what I’ve really been craving is a big, unapologetic dose of dance-pop. “Shook” certainly scratched that itch, but “Ghost“? Now we’re talking.
It’s slinky, dreamy and deliciously dramatic, with those unmistakable harmonies doing what they do best. But it’s the lyrics that really have me hooked — fierce, bold and completely unbothered. Basically, this is Sugababes business as usual, and thank goodness for that.
Then comes the video. Directed by Thomas James, it sees the trio wandering through a cemetery and quite literally laying an ex-lover to rest, capturing the lingering traces and ghosts people leave behind. Is it spooky season? Not quite. Does that matter? Absolutely not. The ladies have decided they’re taking the cemetery real estate anyway.
They look fabulous. They sound even better. And after all that waiting, I can finally say it with complete confidence: the SUGABABES are well and truly back.
