Trae Tha Truth Brings Thousands of Meals and Supplies To Battered Indiana

Trae Tha Truth teams with Operation BBQ Relief to deliver thousands of meals and supplies to Indiana storm survivors still without power.
Trae tha Truth showed up in Northwest Indiana this week with thousands of hot meals, cleaning supplies, blankets, and chainsaws, proving once again that the Houston rapper’s humanitarian work extends far beyond music.
The rapper and activist partnered with Operation BBQ Relief to set up outside a Walmart on US 41 in Schererville, where they’ve been distributing free meals to residents still recovering from devastating storms and prolonged power outages that hit the region last week.
Residents had been without power for nine days, losing everything in the process.

“In times like this, you know, it’s times that people really need hope, you know, you dealing with all kind of problems on top of problems. So, you know, they need people like us to be out here caring and just assisting, you know, as much as we can,” Trae tha Truth said during an interview at the relief site.
This isn’t Trae’s first disaster response mission. The rapper has built a reputation for showing up wherever disaster strikes. He met Operation BBQ Relief during Hurricane Harvey in Houston, and the partnership has been unstoppable ever since.
“We’ve given out at least a $100,000 meals together. But what happens now whenever a disaster hit, either they call me or I call them…I’m going to be pulling up. So, we’ve done Carolinas, Florida, Mississippi and now Indiana. We do everything together. So, the goal now is to give out at least a couple thousand meals a day while I’m here,” he explained.
He’s also working with Matthew 25 Ministries, a disaster relief organization that deploys supplies to affected communities.
When asked what keeps him going despite his successful music career, Trae didn’t hesitate.
“I love helping people. So when stuff like I just found out about the crazy thing is not enough media is covering it. It’s a lot of people that need help. But I love doing it, man. The people need it,” he said.
His next stop was meeting with Mayor Eddie of Gary to coordinate relief efforts across multiple areas. Trae plans to hit several neighborhoods to maximize the impact of the meals and supplies.
